The expected results of the project are:
- The communities in the watersheds have built up village level organisations, which allow autonomous management of natural resources on a sustainable
basis and broad-based village development.
- Local persons (women and men) are trained as promoters, technicians and leaders for rendering services and support to village communities and their organisations.
- Groundwater recharge capacity in the watersheds is increased and the area under micro irrigation is augmented.
- Production of diverse biomass tailored to local need is increased and its availability during the dry season is improved.
- Migration of people due to lack of employment opportunities and food and water shortages
in the watershed areas has been reduced.
- Reduction of poverty through increased income and employment opportunities and access to common property resources.
- Income of households has increased through agricultural diversification, processing and marketing.
- Women have strengthened their capacities and have access to and control over resources.
- Documentation and an information base have been created for the capitalisation and dissemination of experiences.
