Report of a workshop held on February 20-21st , 2004 at MYRADA-PIDOW, Kamlapur

Everyone speaks about the process monitoring, but there is no shared understanding on what is meant by process monitoring. Monitoring is by and large associated with physical and financial reviews and collection of data and filling in formats. In ISPWDK, it was envisaged in 2002 that in the course of implementation, to organise an event to better understand the process monitoring and reflect on whether the project is in line with agreed approaches and guiding principles. With this background, a joint workshop was organised with the three partner NGOs and PSMU on 20-21st February, 2004 at MYRADA-PIDOW, Kamlapur.

Ms. Annette Kolff, who has been the associated with the project since 2000 as Advisor and later on undertaken two missions to support the ISPWDK from IC Bern in the areas of Institutional Monitoring and M&E systems, was requested to facilitate the learning event on process monitoring in ISPWDK.

The purpose of the workshop was mainly to bring clarity and common understanding on process monitoring, processes of socio-economic changes worth analysis and documentation in the light of approaches and guiding principles of ISPWDK Phase – II.

The process was interactive; the planning allowed for changes in the sessions based on the needs of participants. There were 6 sessions planned during the two-day workshop. The process began with a unique & interesting personal introduction exercise. The partner NGOs presented few cases of different experiences in institutional development, livelihoods for poor and women participation etc.
