the strategies

Based on the experiences in Phase 1 of the project, it was decided to achieve the goals and objectives of Phase 2 with a strategy of development through institution building. Promoting appropriate community based organisations (CBOs) will enable people to become the main actors in their own development.

In order to actualise this strategy, the following key areas have been identified:

• Building capacities of staff, who in turn are responsible for strengthening people's and their institution's capacities.



• Documentation of all experiences, which serves as a benchmark for upscaling successful project interventions; developing a knowledge base in various areas of natural resource development and management; learning through successes and failures; effective monitoring and dissemination to interest groups and institutions.
