Under the auspices of the Myadardokki Gram Samstha; the School Improvement and Local Standing Committee; the Continuing Educational Board, Myadardokki; and SAMUHA-KWP, Tavaragera; a Vanamahotsava programme was conducted at the government primary school, Myadardokki on October 10, 2002.
The function began with an invocation by the schoolchildren, after which Chattrappa, the headmaster, gave the welcome address. Lakshman Mudhalagundi, Jamlapur Taluk Panchayat member, addressed the gathering and stressed on the roles institutions like the Gram Samstha and the school play in creating awareness about forests and the ecology.
The next guest, Manavalli, expressed that it was encouraging to see elders participating in the process of children’s upliftment while Tajuddin Dalpati, Adult Education Officer, Khustagi, emphasised the need to protect forests. “If we protect forests, they will in turn protect us. By destroying forests, we destroy not only ourselves, but also nature. And, if nature gets angry, what will our fate be?” he said.
