Renukamma and Adappa

In their case, Renukamma and Adappa appear to have used the opportunity of substantial, well paid wage labour to really change their lives. With her shop, Renukamma no longer goes for wage labour, whilst Adappa works only locally – he says he does not intend to migrate in future. In lending money - at an interest rate that is locally fair – he is also contributing to changed patterns of access to credit within the village.
