First Exchange Forum Meeting was held on 26th & 27th March 2003 at Myrada Kodli. The subject for sharing and discussions in EF was Common Property Resource Management – Vegetation & Forest.

Introduction

In Phase-I of ISPWDK the experiences in the area of CPR Management, were worth discussing in a common forum, so as to develop strategies for Phase-II areas in developing and managing the CPR, which were already identified by the partners of ISPWDK.

Participants

Resource persons from government forest department of the Government of Karnataka were GoK and others who have practical experiences in addressing the issues, could contribute to develop strategies for future. The IC NGO partners, who have the experiences in developing and managing CPR, were also invited to share their experiences.

Other participants of the 1st EF meeting were the community representatives; the NGO Partners of ISPWDK; PSMU members; SDC/IC representatives: IC NGO partners: RWT (KAR), PHCC (TN); Resource person from WOTR.

Summary of the Meeting

26th March 2003

The teams visitedthe Maramuri Watershed. The field visits were carried out in three groups: Seri B.Tanda, Sugur – K and Kanchanal. Presentations and discussions. Listing out of issues/concerns and problems.

27th March 2003

Sharing experiences on CPR in Phase-I in Kanaka Nala Watershed, Upper Mullamari Watershed and Maramuri Watershed. To bring out various practical issues, key concerns. Harvesting the key issues and concerns. Policy and legal matters. What are the CPR in Phase –II that could be managed – presentation of the status of CPR? What are the strategies approaches for management and usufruct sharing arrangement? Follow up actions by each of the project, to incorporate in the action plan.
