Date: 11th to 13th April 2005
Purpose of the 5th EF meeting
- To bring out field based experiences on various aspects in promoting biomass in the watershed treatment areas and in other parts of the village. Furthermore link them in addressing the energy issues, which affect the livelihoods of the people, especially the resource poor in the semi-arid regions of Karnataka.
- To share the experiences on rural energy interventions of selected partner NGOs of ISPWDK and SDC/IC NGO Programme Karnataka & Tamil Nadu, GoK, GoI schemes/programmes and other resource organizations /individuals.
- To discuss and bring out various practical issues, constraints, challenges related to biomass development in watershed areas. To consider how the potential biomass generated could be integrated in addressing the energy requirements of the people, especially the poor.

To gain insights in to various options/experiences on other non-conventional rural energy interventions and how these could be integrated in addressing the energy requirements of the people, especially the poor
- In the context of watershed development in semi-arid regions identify different energy interventions, issues, constraints, challenges related to them.
- To explore ways and means to address the issues, challenges to make appropriate energy interventions in watershed development by involving various stakeholders and the CBOs, PRI etc.
The participants: Community representatives, ISPWDK Partner NGOs representatives, SDC/IC NGO Programme KTN partner NGOs representatives, PSMU, IC, SDC representatives
