CPR activities in Upper Mullamari Watershed

A meeting was held with Mr. Manoj Kumar, IFS, DCF (Social Forestry) on 12th August, 2003. The DCF has already visited PRAWARDA and the Director has established good working relations with the KFD.

Tree patta: Already 30, 000 saplings have been provided by the Social Forestry Department under a scheme for swamijimath. PRAWADA has used these for plantations on newly created bunds, and about 3 km of roadside planting. It was agreed by the DCF that he will arrange to issue these trees under the patta scheme; PRAWARDA arranged the list of farmers and other details, for processing by the RFO (Range Forest Office).

VFC formation in the Phase 2 area: The DCF explained that their budgetary provision for VFC formation in the watershed area has already been met, so it would be difficult to provide funds towards the formation of VFCs in four villages of the ISPWDK Phase 2 area. However, he was open to supporting such activities if funding could be met through the project.
